I've only been to stories side 2x and my 2nd time will most definitely change my life
We ended up leaving the service during worship because it was not possible for us to follow their "rules" with our youngest children. There is no accommodation for parents to listen to the service with their children outside of the sanctuary and since you are not allowed to re-enter once leaving, you are left with the option to just stand in the lobby. We went to the information desk to ask if there was a place for me to stay with the younger children and the woman did not know. She asked someone else, then said we could probably just go back the hallway where the childrens classes were--past the two security guards. Even under construction, as it was when we visited, how hard is it to put out a few chairs for those who are refused space in the sanctuary. I have never had such a negative experience with church in my adult life and I actually see this church as a hindrance to anyone who may already be unfamiliar or leery of church.
Heart. Genuine. Relationship. Generations. These are words that come to mind when I think about the desire and direction Story Side wants for its people
Our family moved to the Bellville area recently and have been trying to find a new church home, which has been especially hard for our youngest two (of 6) children. This church would have turned me off to church permanently had I not had previous positive experiences with church and I hope people new to church do not find their way here. It was very obvious that following their rules, looking good, smiling for the camera and TV audience was of much greater importance than serving the church body and families. They even have someone specifically to go to families whose children are with them in the service to remind them of their rules because it is all being recorded. well, guess what, church is not supposed to be some show of perfection. Church and people are imperfect and humbled by imperfection.
This is my favorite place in the world and pastor Micah opened my eyes and made me realize that Jesus is always here for me! Best church and pastors in the whole world
